My mental gums are bleeding after I mental flossed

I love mentalfloss.com. I can't remember if Erin told me about it or if I told her about it but it is awesome. It's a magazine that I don't subscribe to but I do daily read their stories on the website. They have Lunchtime Quizzes that Erin and I compare scores on. Sometimes they aren't so hard. Yesterday's was ridiculous.

Name the last 10 Popes. What the crap? I've got Benedict and John Paul. That's it. Don't Popes live forever?

I would suggest daily visiting mentalfloss.com if you want to expand your mental capacity or realize how little you know.

Nobody has asked but I wanted to update you on the celebrity gossip fast.

It has been surprisingly easy. I do still watch The Soup, Chelsea Lately and Best Week Ever. I don't watch ENews or read the entertainment sections of cnn.com or msnbc.com. I'll be honest. It's been refreshing.

Also for those long time readers, I have not watched any American Idol this year. I don't even care about it one bit. It's also been easy to stay away.

Just so you know.

i heart TR

I had the pleasure of watching Friday Night Lights tonight with one of the show's biggest fan and her husband. Jana, Michael and I sat in anticipation to see what Coach Taylor was going to do about the new quarterback in town; squirmed in our chairs as Lila got left alone with Tyra's family while her sister said her wedding vows; shook our heads as Tim Riggins made one mistake after the other.

The question came up (from MK) "Why do you like Tim Riggins? He's a jerk." He made the comment that he is the antithesis of what Jana says her type is. He's sweaty, dumb, slow, a drunk. I would have to agree with this as well. However, we still love him. (In Jana's defense, she loves Saracen more.)

After some thinking, Jana and I came up with a few reasons we love Tim Riggins. He's hot for one. uhm...hello?

But Tim Riggins has other redeeming qualities. Lest we forget when he was looking out for Julie Taylor? Ugh, had my heart.

Can someone else help us understand why we love Tim Riggins? I know there are some FNL watchers out there (said effin'ell) and I want to hear about it.

25 Things...

if your on the book you know what this is...if your not on the book i'm a little surprised your reading our blog.

1. just about the only thing that calms me down is doing my nails. i'm obsessive about them...i do them like every 5 days. i even did them in africa :)
2. i have wanted a dog of my own for like forever but i can never seem to settle down. i'm obsessed with great danes, it has to be a girl and either the full black or the black and white.
3. i have had 6 cars...BMW, Cougar (thats right i had one and it was red), Pathfinder, Explorer, Jetta (i miss her the most), and now a Versa (its a nissan that looks like a little bubble if your confused). what can i say my dad's a car salesman.
4. i was the co-editor of the school newspaper and on the yearbook staff in high school. it was awesome back then but is so not my gifting now.
5. two things that i could not live without are aussie sprunch spray and my ipod.
6. i sort of miss driving in africa. on the two lane roads every couple of miles there was a passing lane for the slower person to drive in while the faster one passed them. once the faster person passed they would turn their flashers on for a sec to say thank you. and you didn't get pulled over for speeding...there were just cameras that would catch you and you would get it in the mail (i had a fear that i had racked up my share...i never drove the speed limit :))
7. i HATE cops. i can count on one hand the nice ones i have met, actually i can only think of one.
8. i would LOVE to be a merch girl and travel with the band.
9. i want to adopt one day...i would love to look around my dinner table and be able to see a child from every nation. i realize that is a big dream. sometimes i pray for big miracles, this is one of those.
10. i am very routine about the way i do things...if i get out of that i forget something. for ex. i always put my makeup on the same way as far as steps to what you put on next.
11. my first year of college i went to Auburn..I started out majoring in Interior Design and left with a major in Hospitality Management. I still love interior design, i will put things together to design a room all day...but don't ask me to do an art project.
12. i really don't want to marry someone with a longer or more complicated last name than mine. seriously when i meet a guy i usually try to find out their last name and if its short and not weird they get bonus points.
13. i'm sort of obsessed with Brangelina.
14. i have always secretly wanted to work for the FBI or UN (i realize they are not the same...you'll be strong)
15. it bothers me when people say i'm indecisive...i'm just a thinker
16. i want to learn to play tennis and rock climb
17. i just entered the HGTV dream home sweepstakes...then i read the small print about all the taxes and such and freaked out a little bit. if i win your all moving to Cali with me.
18. i got lost once while driving in africa with one other american in the car. luckily there was a map in the car and my copilot and i made it home safe and sound...we sort of felt like we had conquered the world ( i never told mr. steve that :))
19. i have a weakness for thugs that are usually players...google vince spadea and you can see for yourself.
20. i have one tattoo on my body and one more left in me before i'm done.
21. i have been to ukraine, japan and south africa. i loved south africa but japan was probably my favorite.
22. i want to travel around the US releasing messages in bottles.
23. i get obsessed with a movie and i will watch it every weekend until i'm just completely done with it. right now its 'definitely, maybe'. i somehow relate to isla fishers' character and would like for things to turn out that way.
24. i get really shy when it comes to boys. i'm terrible at flirting and if i like a guy he's probably the one person in the room i'm not talking to.
25. when i was little my dream was to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader...HA

To McDonalds...

I am not a difficult customer. I rarely make special requests at any restaurant, much less your fine establishment. I always say thank you and please when I talk to your employees. I know they make little to nothing and they probably get a lot of crap from customers. Trust me, I know.

All I'm asking is for you to say "Thank You" when you hand me your food. I promise I'll say the same. Bump that...I just want you to say anything to me when you hand me my food or my change. You could say "I crapped in your hamburger" and I'd be happier than you acting like I am not there.

So to the McDonalds employees at Nippers Corner (that's the area of Nashville I live in, not a vulgarity), please get some customer service lessons. And also ask me if I want ketchup. I had to dip my fries in ranch when I got home.

Considering my last name is often confused with your name, please shape up so we don't get a bad name.

Also, I'm moving from Nashville in a few weeks. I can't believe I've been here for almost 2 years. It feels like home here but I know that this is the right move. Just like Johnny and June, I'm going to Jackson. I don't think I'll mess around.

A T T I T U D E

This one didn't go with the post below but I had to post. It is one of my favs. This is me and one of the muskateers Katie. There were three of us...me, her and Jennifer(not sure where Jennifer was that day, we were never separated). I'm not sure what is up with my sort of masculine posture but however the look on my face is a look I'm pretty sure some of you have seen before...

My how times have changed...

I confess I'm not doing much of anything these days...sort of bound to the couch, I'm on crutches. While I am watching the Australian Open I figured why not give you a little entertainment while I'm here.

I did some digging and found some gems from back in the day. Let the fun begin...

my childhood dating history...

#1 Jimbo, he played football at huffman ball park and of course I was a cheerleader. This was Homecoming. Ah yes Jimbo was my first love, we were on and off all through elementary school. He lived around the corner from me and our parents were buds. Our parents first met when I was in crap I'm not sure what grade but we were young and Jimbo's mom was picking him up and he said they would give me a ride so whoever was supposed to pick me up that day showed up and I was no where to be found. The rest was history...

Honestly I'm not sure who this one is, bet my mom could tell you. And I think he was an in betweener so we won't say what number he was. I realize we were much younger than Jimbo and I but I think the pic above is when he and I were somewhere in the middle. Needless to say I went back to Jimbo...

#2 Then there was Andrew...who I'm pretty sure I was with to make Jimbo jealous HA.

Oh and heres Andrew again line dancing with me at one of our Football/Cheerleader dances...notice my western wear

I have lost my skillz somewhere...I clearly used to be a playa.

A Two-for

(or twofer if you want to spell as you say it)

From MentalFloss.com...Hicks and I play their quizzes and read their awesome articles daily. I highly suggest it.

Like all presidents, Barack Obama and his family will have to pay for their own food while they’re living in the White House. But does someone actually send them a bill? How does this system work?

obamas.jpgPresident Obama may have his own executive chef now, but when his family and personal guests eat what’s coming out of the kitchen, he’ll have to foot the bill himself. Luckily for him, though, the government picks up the tab if he’s having a state function at the White House, which could get pricey since the White House’s website touts that its five chefs can crank out dinner for 140 or hors d’oeuvres for over a thousand people.

Does someone really keep track? Apparently, the White House functions like a luxury hotel in this regard. At the end of each month, the president receives a bill for his food and incidental expenses. Nancy Reagan was famously taken aback by this practice when an usher presented her first bill in 1981, saying, “Nobody ever told us the president and his wife are charged for every meal, as well as incidentals like dry cleaning, toothpaste, and other toiletries.” (Once they got used to the bills, though, the Reagans loved the White House; President Reagan

often joked that all the amenities made it like living in an eight-star hotel.)

white-house-dining.jpgThe president and his family get to pick what snacks they want, what brand of toothpaste they use, and what menu they want the chef to prepare for them, but it can still get a bit pricier than new commanders in chief expect. In a fascinating article in this month’s National Geographic, former White House chief usher Gary Walters said that he couldn’t remember any first families not complaining about the high prices of the food. Walters added that Rosalynn Carter was particularly miffed by the high-priced fare, which must have been a bit more expensive than what she’d been getting in Georgia

Things I know and Things I don't

Let's begin with things I know:
- I love Bonnie Hunt. I think she is super sweet and just so funny. I can see that her sense of humor (good) might not be everybody's cup of tea. For those people, I feel sorry.
- I'm addicted to WordWarp, a TextTwist twin for the iPhone. Apparently, I'm not the only one because the ads on this game have gone from stupid, text only ads to ones for Hewlett-Packard. I'll also go ahead and admit that I now think of a word with 6 letters and try to figure out how many words I can make out of it. I may need to fast.
- The City is good. I am going to go ahead and say I like it better than I like The Hills. For those of you who know me, you know that means I like The City a whole lot.
- One of my favorite bands, Paper Route, is about to take off. Trust me.
- I'm driving to Jacktown for the weekend after work tomorrow. I know I hate that drive.
- I like the fact that I see snow, even just flurries that don't stick, a good bit in Nashville.

Things I don't know:
- I don't know if I'll keep reading the rest of the Twilight series. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the first 1 and a half books. I'm probably going to finish book 2 this week.
- Can anybody explain why I get hooked on marathons of The Real Housewives of NYC?
- Why The City is so good.
- I'm not sure if I'll be going to the Davis Cup in Birmingham (a huge tennis tournament with almost all of my favorite players.) My life is kind of in flux right now.
